Yorkshire Smokefree Calderdale supported and promoted the Breathe 2025 campaign Sunday the 18th of September 2016 at Illingworth Sports and Social Club. The event was organised to run alongside the Illingworth and Greetland under 7’s Rugby league fixture.
Due to the appropriate age of the children who regularly participate in this fun outdoor activity, we hope that by highlighting the campaign to the children on the day will increase the awareness of the drive to make smoking a thing of the past. On the day we had over 40 children attend and make a pledge based on the balloons ordered. With sibling included who were attending the mornings activity we estimate over 50 children viewed the 2minute video and made their pledge.
The children who attended the game where made aware off the event and encouraged to watch the Breathe 2025 campaign video and take part in the pledge.
Parents and children who attended the event all got involved and took part by watching the campaign video and making their futuristic pledge with the release of a balloon that had “I Pledge” written on.
The awareness day was a huge success followed by Illingworth U7’s annual fundraiser where the children continued the morning playing outdoors and having generally a fun filled Sunday morning.

We, at the York RI New Lane Sports Ground, are committed to educating our members and visitors to the advantages of not smoking; helping smokers to cease through support and encouragement.

I pledge to work with Midwives and Mothers to reduce the number of babies and children who are harmed through cigarette smoke. I fully support the ambition for a smoke-free generation by 2025.

As DPH I pledge to make creating a smoke free generation in Hull by 2025 a priority for me this year. I will be focusing on my work with communities and health services to achieve this
